Gather

About Gather

Friendship should not feel this hard to schedule.

People still want to see each other. The hard part is getting from a scattered group text to a plan everyone can actually answer.

Gather was created for the moment when everyone means it when they say, "we should get together soon," but the coordination gets so heavy that the plan quietly disappears.

Why it matters

The group chat can make people feel close. It can also make getting together feel impossible.

Modern friendship has a strange amount of admin built into it. People are juggling jobs, families, relationships, travel, childcare, full calendars, and the low-grade exhaustion of being asked to make one more decision.

So the text thread gets muted. The dinner gets rescheduled. The birthday plan waits for someone else to make the call. Eventually, no one is upset enough to say anything, but everyone has seen the same thing happen: the plan slips away.

We built Gather because connection is too important to depend on whoever has the most stamina for follow-ups.

Our purpose

Make it easier to turn "let's do something" into something real.

Gather is the warm, decisive friend in the group chat: the one who can offer a few good options, help people vote, and make the next step obvious without making anyone feel managed.

Less chasing

The person who starts the plan should not have to become the project manager for everyone else's calendar.

More clarity

A gathering should move from maybe to real without six side threads, three reschedules, and a final plan nobody can find.

Better reasons to go

People are more likely to show up when the plan feels worth leaving the house for, not like another vague "we should hang soon."

A note from Jen

This problem kept showing up.

Gather started from a simple frustration: making plans with people you love can become so complicated that people stop trying.

Not because they do not care. Not because they do not want to come. Often, the people who need time with their friends the most are the same people with the least energy to coordinate another moving target.

We wanted to build something that respects both sides of the plan: the person brave enough to start it, and the people who want to say yes without digging through a hundred messages to figure out what is happening.

What we believe

Everyone should get to be part of making the plan happen.

Gather is not here to scold people for being busy or turn friendship into another productivity system. It is here to make saying yes easier, make the plan clearer, and make showing up feel possible again.

For the organizer

You can be thoughtful, inclusive, and decisive without carrying the whole plan by yourself.

For the friend who wants in

Saying yes should be simple. A quick vote should be enough to help the group move forward.

For the group

The point is not a perfect itinerary. The point is getting people who care about each other into the same place.

The bigger picture

Less planning fatigue. More real life.

The world is not getting quieter. People are stretched, distracted, and spending more of life behind screens. Gather exists to make the next in-person plan feel less intimidating and more worth doing.
